In September 2022, after six years of healthy hyperactivity, El Petit de Cal Eril said goodbye with a sign that read: “Closed to go fishing.” Then came the silence. No one really knows how the time passed, or on what hidden cove he’s been casting his line. But despite the mystery, we can now confirm that these fallow years have borne fruit. El Petit de Cal Eril is back.
He returns just as he left: without many explanations, almost as if by magic. He wasn’t here, and suddenly, he is. Quietly, he already has a new album ready — 12 new songs that, judging by the title, should be classic Eril, pure DNA: ERIL ERIL ERIL, it’s called. But since the first song already warns us that “I’m no longer who I was,” well… we’ll see.
Those of you who know El Petit de Cal Eril already know he doesn’t take the easy road. He needs to forge new paths and move along the edges. He’s somewhat allergic to doing things the way everyone else does. This is, then, an album full of millions of questions and very few answers — or maybe it has all possible answers, which are infinite. There are mysteries, promises, secrets, thoughts, a sea of doubts and knots to untangle. Independence, radicalism, art. Human beings, people, friends. The blurry line between darkness and tenderness.
